Hello everyone,
I thought to myself as I love to blog and I wanted to start something new through that avenue then why not start blogging about my life as aunt but or as my 14 month old nephew sees it that I’m his ‘mum’. When he was born in Australia me and the little guy use to FaceTime all the time as I was in dear old England. He then came at the tender age of 6 months to England for my wedding. We spent 4 months together, and that’s when it started. When auntie or massie as we say in Punjabi morphed in to mum, mamma.. or whatever was easy with an ‘m’ sound to say. He then left England & I decided after a month or so of him leaving to come to Australia with my husband. We of course came and stayed with my sister & her family! My nephew over the past three months has decided himself that he has two mothers. The first one of course his mother who gave him birth. The main mother who was there from day 1. And then there is me, the second mummy. The one we refuse to call massie, only known as mumma or nonna.!
I don’t want kids. Don’t get me wrong they are cute & adorable but they can be so testing at times. And before anyone says it, it’s just a phase in your life. Well actually it’s not, me and my husband have discussed & feel we don’t want or need them. It’s not something we crave or desire. But to be honest when my nephew already treats me like his mum, I don’t need that from another child.
And yes he will grow up & become independent (which he already thinks he is now) and will change his attitude towards me I still would be ok without kids.
I’ve seen everyone say the negative & then always say a positive. And that’s fine. That’s how you feel about kids because firstly you wanted them & secondly you have them now. You learn to love them. It’s like anything once it comes in to your life it’s hard to imagine life without.
There are pros & cons of being a ‘mum’ to a child who is convinced he has two mothers. I love it when I have a sad day & his cheeky smile brightens it up. Or the way he comes and sits next to me, rests his hand on mine, and gives me a look like it’s ok. I love the way he can laugh at the most random and uninteresting object. I love how he has to have cuddles & kisses... amongst so many other things. However sometimes I wish he would let me go to the bathroom, where that be a pee, or even a shower instead of knocking the door constantly. I wish he wouldn’t open my bedroom door first thing in the morning & drag me out of bed. Or open the door wide whilst in midst getting change. I wish sometimes I could eat one meal without him either trying to eat it for me or sitting in my lap. I know it sounds like I’m moaning, but I just feel like sometimes I much as I love that kid he would just do that with his mum.
I love my nephew dearly, who basically it seems is also my son. But sometimes I wish he would just chill out and let me do something in peace! I didn’t choose this but I’ve accepted it.
I just hate it when people have kids & cant look after them. Complain about, moan about them.. it’s like look! I didn’t have kids but ended up with one anyways. And I’ve accepted the difficult paths it sometimes brings but at the end of the day all that child wants is just a kiss & a cuddle. And you watch everything else just falls in to place..
Thanks for reading!
